About
Sega Bodega, the moniker of Salvador Navarrete, is renowned for his avant-garde fusion of electronic music genres. His soundscape intricately weaves elements of UK bass, deconstructed club, trip-hop, and experimental pop, resulting in compositions that are both emotionally resonant and sonically innovative. Albums like Salvador (2020), Romeo (2021), and Dennis (2024) showcase his ability to blend ethereal vocals with glitchy textures, ambient interludes, and club-ready beats. This distinctive approach positions him at the forefront of contemporary electronic music, appealing to both underground and mainstream audiences.
Born on February 16, 1992, in Galway, Ireland, to a Chilean father and Irish mother, Salvador Navarrete relocated to Glasgow at the age of 10. Initially performing under the alias "Peace," he adopted the name Sega Bodega in 2012. A self-taught producer, he honed his skills through online tutorials and brief studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2017, he co-founded the NUXXE collective alongside artists like Shygirl and Coucou Chloe, fostering a community that challenges conventional music norms. Beyond his solo projects, Sega Bodega has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including Arca, Caroline Polachek, and Björk, and has contributed to soundtracks for brands like Nike and Fenty. His work often delves into personal themes, addressing topics such as mental health and identity, solidifying his reputation as a multifaceted and introspective artist.
