About

Ciara is an American singer, songwriter, and dancer whose music primarily spans contemporary R&B, pop, and hip-hop, with early influences from crunk&B—a subgenre blending crunk and R&B. She gained prominence with her debut album Goodies (2004), featuring hits like "Goodies," "1, 2 Step," and "Oh," which showcased her ability to merge catchy hooks with danceable beats. Over the years, Ciara's sound has evolved to incorporate elements of dance-pop and electronic music, as seen in albums like Ciara (2013) and Beauty Marks (2019). Her music often emphasizes themes of empowerment, love, and resilience, complemented by her dynamic vocal delivery and signature dance moves.

Born Ciara Princess Harris on October 25, 1985, in Austin, Texas, she experienced a nomadic childhood due to her father's military career, living in various locations before settling in Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, Ciara formed the girl group Hearsay, which eventually disbanded, leading her to pursue a solo career. She was discovered by producer Jazze Pha, who helped her sign with LaFace Records. Her debut album, Goodies, released in 2004, achieved triple platinum status and earned four Grammy nominations. Ciara continued to release successful albums, including Ciara: The Evolution (2006), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Beyond music, she has ventured into acting, modeling, and entrepreneurship, launching her own record label, Beauty Marks Entertainment. In her personal life, Ciara married NFL quarterback Russell Wilson in 2016, and the couple has three children together. As of 2025, she is preparing to release her eighth studio album, CiCi, slated for July 11.
